Extra-terrestrial life, we are looking in the right direction?
In a report published today (in English), a group of scientists point out that life is unlikely that appeared on Earth, even if no formal proof of the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence could not be demonstrated to this day.
All living organisms use a common use of DNA to encode genetic information and use the same 20 amino acids to build proteins. Moreover, they are invariably based on a chemistry-based carbon using water as a universal solvent.
That all terrestrial organisms based on the same principle is perhaps a major fundamental discoveries of modern science, however, it may constitute a serious handicap for the search for extraterrestrial life, the report says, because we do not know completely What other avenues living has been able to follow on other worlds.
